FRAKO Sine Wave Filter

Design

Function

In modern converter systems with frequency inverters, sinusoidal voltages are not generated directly. These voltages are typically created using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and must then be processed for the motor using a sine wave filter to ensure that a sinusoidal voltage is supplied to the motor. Without this filtering, the resulting "ripple" would only be converted into heat rather than effective movement in the motor. Therefore, when selecting a sine wave filter, attention is paid to achieving the smallest possible "ripple" in the application.

Advantages of the FRAKO Sine Wave Filter at a Glance:

  • Reduction of motor losses

  • Reduction of motor noise

  • Reduction of bearing currents

  • Reduction of voltage peaks and overvoltage

  • Reduction of differential mode and common mode interference

  • Reduction of line-borne interference emissions

  • Very high filtering efficiency due to precise low-pass tuning

  • Reduction of voltage rise time to grid-compliant levels

  • Allows for long shielded and unshielded motor cables

  • Increases the lifespan of the motor/consumer
