EM-MC – The Load Optimizer
The Maximum Controller EM-MC 2200 features a modern design as a comfortable power monitoring system to reduce peak loads with new additional functions. The setpoint power tracking dynamically adapts to the monthly operating behavior.
As a standalone device, the EM-MC 2200 is the ideal solution for small and medium-sized businesses, industrial operations, office buildings, and hotels. It can be integrated into the FRAKO Energy Management System via the FRAKO power bus or the Ethernet interface. Intelligent terminal shutoffs (Modbus over IP) or time controls are just a few of the helpful extensions of the EM-MC 2200. This investment quickly pays off in the liberalized energy market, as exceeding the set power limit continues to lead to avoidable costs.
Applications
- Setpoint power regulation to control the average power within the given interval to the setpoint power. This is achieved by temporarily switching off individual consumers.
- Peak power monitoring that immediately switches off consumers in case of excessive power to prevent tripping the circuit breaker.
- Power-dependent regulation setpoint to avoid unnecessary shutdowns at the start of the measurement period.
- Priority, min./max. shutdown time, min. startup time per channel for individual adjustment of connected consumers to the operating behavior.
- 4 activatable profiles, where for each profile, setpoint power, peak power, and consumer parameters such as priority, power, min./max. shutdown time, min. startup time, and priority (time or power priority) can be set.
- Dynamic setpoint power tracking adapts to the monthly operating behavior to account for seasonal power fluctuations. Lowering the setpoint power at the beginning of the billing period, combined with automatic tracking, enables additional savings in months with lower load peaks.
- Grouping of switching channels to strictly adhere to priority control.
- Traffic light switching: 3 switching channels can be defined to output the load status.
- Emergency mode to maintain setpoint power even in critical load conditions.
- Integration of any Modbus-TCP devices with digital outputs for switching off consumers.
- Timer for time-controlled switching of consumers or for time-dependent setting of setpoint power or profiles.
- Storage of the following data in a ring buffer:
- Period averages over 20,000 intervals, including the valid setpoint power and timestamp at the end of the interval.
- Daily maximums over 500 days, including timestamp.
- Monthly maxima over 48 months.
- 10,000 switching operations.
- Configuration and display of current and historical values via the Device Manager software (included).
- Display of measurement values and the power triangle via the graphic display EM-FD 2500 (optional) or via an integrated web interface. The display is connected to the Maximum Controller EM-MC 2200 via a 4-wire cable. Up to 7 additional EM devices can be displayed on one screen.
